So today I went down to Capitola to meet up with some local fisheries biologists to help out with monitoring the population of Steelhead in the Soquel Lagoon. Steelhead are a threatened species among the Central Coast due to human development. In Capitola, there has been lots of development along Soquel Creek, so therefore the Steelhead population must be monitored carefully. Today we caught 20, and when compared with last week's data we could predict the population of the lagoon. In previous years there has been an estimated 6,000 fish in the lagoon; today we estimated about 300.....
